Level-5 and GungHo Online Entertainment have released Yo-kai Watch World for smartphones. Location-based yo-kai discovery game is now available for iOS via the App Store and Android via Google Play in Japan. All in a way very similar to Pokémon GO, but that certainly fits the proposal of this franchise.

You are the protagonist of an adventure across Japan
The numerous yo-kai from the Yo-kai Watch series, such as Jibanyan and Komasan, appear in the real world. Search and fight the yo-kai that appear across Japan. Complete your Yo-kai Encyclopedia by moving or making other players move.
First, “Search” for Yo-kai on the map
To find the yo-kai nearby, “Search” the location you are on the map. There are several yo-kai to discover depending on the location. Don't forget to search whenever you visit a new place.
Find Yo-kai with your smartphone screen
Tap the icon for the yo-kai you discovered through Research. By doing this, you will be able to see the yo-kai through your smartphone screen. Find yo-kai and chase them so they don't escape.
Yo-kai battle with simple controls
When you search for yo-kai, a battle will begin. As the battles are semi-automatic, they are very simple. Use special moves when you have an opening or are in trouble. By winning battles against a yo-kai, you may be able to befriend them. By training the yo-kai you befriend, you can fight even stronger yo-kai.
Own nearby players
Your yo-kai can “Own” nearby players. A yo-kai possessor can travel with the possessing player to new areas. They can bring back a yo-kai from somewhere you couldn't go alone, or sometimes even bring back memories. (Please be assured that your exact position will not be shown to nearby players.)
Plant “Yo-kai Trees” in various places
You can plant trees in your current location, as well as in places a yo-kai visitor visits. Yo-kai gather around the trees, creating the opportunity for new encounters. Make proper use of Yo-kai trees to increase the number of places you can befriend new yo-kai.

Yo-kai Watch World is full of other ways to play. From “Advent Bosses” you can enjoy anywhere, to “Broken Maps” where you can look back on your past travels and much more. How you play is up to you.
