Koei Tecmo and Midas have announced that they will release an action RPG from the anime Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star in the west). The game will be called Shin Hokuto Musou. Scheduled to arrive at the end of the year in Japan, the game is already in pre-registration (official website here).
Shin Hokuto Musou? Same name as the Japanese version of Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 (Xbox 360 and PS3)? Will you release the full game on Android and iOS?
Take it easy, kid! The game won't be exactly the same as last-gen consoles. Koei Tecmo has already confirmed that it has opted for the free-to-play model that is more common on cell phones.
Not many details have been given at the moment, but it is very likely that Koei Tecmo will adapt some things. Don't expect a game that you can go from start to finish without having to spend anything and without needing internet. Everything indicates that they will “adapt” the Musou gameplay to mobile reality (shorter gaming sessions).
However, it is worth remembering that the Hokuto no Ken franchise usually has good games on mobile. Fist of the North Star: Legends ReVive was released in the west in 2019 and recorded good downloads. To this day, Legends ReVive has a captive audience.
Sobre Hokuto no Ken
The Hokuto no Ken manga and anime are known for being the forerunners of the "modern Shonen" genre. Before Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya and many others, the manga released in 1983 was the first big success of Shonen Jump magazine. The post-apocalyptic theme that united martial arts, a lot of violence and mysticism, brought warriors owners of an ancient art.
Hokuto no Ken had a profound impact on many game creators. You can see influences from the series in fighting games like Street Fighter, World Heroes, Fatal Fury and many others.
Around here, Kenshiro's franchise is not very well known, but in Japan, the series is more famous than Saint Seiya, for example.
