Manga-turned-RPG is now available globally on iOS and Android
Saint Seiya took Japan by storm in the 80s. The shonen manga spawned an action-packed series of films and television anime, with sequels and spin-offs continuing to be made ever since.
In fact, in July 2019, a new CGI adaptation was released on Netflix. Now there's another opportunity for Saint Seiya and JRPG fans to get their Hellenic redemption, with the release of Saint Seiya Awakening: Knights of the Zodiac.
A collaborative effort by Yoozoo Games, Tencent e Masami Kurumada, Saint Seiya Awakening: Knights of the Zodiac brings together the popular elements of the series in a multiplayer RPG on mobile. The young band of warriors, called Santos, return to protect Athena during a war against the gods of Olympus. You take control of one of the holy warriors as you engage in turn-based battles against your enemies.
Expect plenty of explosive special moves delivered with signature battle cries, a drama-filled storyline, and countless fighters to collect.
The graphics are vibrant and capture the style of the original manga, albeit rendered in full 3D. Anime fans might also notice some familiar voices; the developers have assembled some high-profile voice actors, including talent from who worked on other anime like Code Geass and Attack on Titan.
