EA announced today (22) the production of two new Battlefield games. One of them will be a mobile game, developed by Industrial Toys and supervised by DICE. The game arrives in 2022 and will have versions for Android and iOS.
According to DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson, the game will be a spin-off of the franchise and will bring “open warfare” to smartphones and tablets. Also according to the executive, the game has spent years in development and is in the final stages of testing.
“Battlefield mobile is going to be a completely different game than what we're doing for PC and consoles, it's designed specifically for mobile platforms,” said Gabrielson. The game is currently undergoing internal testing.
We can certainly expect an online game that will only contain the "core" of Battlefield's online multiplayer.
It's not the first time Battlefield has appeared on mobile. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was released for iOS in 2010. In 2012, Battlefield 3 Aftershock was also released for iOS. The series was never really a hit on mobile, but apparently, EA wants to move after seeing the success of PUBG and COD Mobile.
