Gameloft announced yesterday (19) the acquisition of FreshPlanet, the producer responsible for the development of the SongPop game. In line with Gameloft's philosophy of offering the best experience to gamers of all ages and countries, this acquisition marks a new milestone in the company's strategic expansion.
FreshPlanet, established in 2009 in New York, quickly became a gaming sensation with the releases of SongPop and SongPop 2, the world's largest music quiz franchise. Its games have received numerous awards, including the prestigious BAFTA for Best Online Game.
With strong social appeal, these games feature clips of pop artists and invite the player, in a fun way, to guess who they are. Something in the best “What's the Music” style. Since its release, SongPop has been downloaded over 100 million times and helped to sell millions of songs.
