Today, October 26th, is the global launch of ArcheAge BEGINS. Gamevil's long-awaited new game for Android and iOS is finally here. However, it already arrived with two problems: A lot of people didn't like the gameplay, and those who liked it, aren't even able to play.
The game uses Unreal Engine 4, but compared to other titles, both the visuals and the gameplay are disappointing. It's not remotely reminiscent of the original game, released for PC in 2013. Gamevil's timing was horrible for releasing ArcheAge BEGINS right after Taichi panda 3 and the imminent launch of Line Age 2.
The game is only 3.2/5 in Google Play ratings. The biggest complaints are from those who have played the original game and downloaded ArcheAge BEGINS thinking that the experience would be similar on mobile.
Perhaps the only positive aspect is the focus on the story. Unlike other games, Begins has a story in Spanish with good English dubbing. Something rare when it comes to online RPGs for mobile phones.
Only the future can tell how Gamevil will solve the game's problems. But those who expect a differentiated gameplay can take the “rain horse”. ArcheAge BEGINS is exactly that, a game to play on “auto” and just watch the characters fight.
