Apple presented this Monday (6), during the event WWDC 2022 keynote, a major upgrade in Metal technology. Metal 3 received the resource MetalFX, a kit of API for developers that will allow console and PC games to be more easily ported to MacOS and iPadOS.
To comment on the news, Apple called the developers of Resident Evil 8 Village and No Man Sky. As you can imagine, the devs were full of praise for the new version of the API.

In the presentation, Masaru Ijuin, director of research development at Capcom, reports that RE8 Village runs in [email protected] on Mac Studio and 1080p on Mac Air.
The curious part of this novelty is that it can also reach iPads with M1, such as the iPad Pro and iPad Air M1.
Immersive gaming experiences
The power of Apple's silicon allows every new Mac to run AAA games with ease, including future titles like EA's GRID Legends and Resident Evil Village da Capcom. And since Apple's silicon also powers the iPad, game developers can bring their AAA games to even more users, like Hello Games' No Man's Sky, coming to Mac and iPad later this year.
Metal 3, the latest version of the software that powers the gaming experience on Apple platforms, introduces new features that take the gaming experience on Mac to new heights and unlock the full potential of Apple's silicon for years to come. MetalFX Upscaling allows developers to quickly render complex scenes using less compute-intensive frames and then apply resolution scaling and temporal anti-aliasing. The result is accelerated performance that gives gamers a more responsive feel and stunning graphics. Game developers also benefit from a new fast resource loading API that minimizes wait time by providing a more direct path from storage to the GPU so games can easily access the high-quality textures and geometry needed to create Expansive worlds for realistic and immersive gameplay.
Apple also announced new features for Game Center, which will facilitate multiplayer matches with the possibility of even sharing a paid multiplayer game momentarily. The new version of Game Center is coming to iOS 16 and iPad OS 16 later this year.
