Mario Kart is a myth among video games, creator of a genre and one of the most fun games of all time. But nowadays, it is almost impossible to compete with the popularity and reach of smartphone games. Angry Birds Go!, a game with some similarities to the Nintendo classic, is a good example. Do you believe that Angry Birds Go! has had more installs than sales of all Mario Karts combined!

This small statistic was released this Thursday morning (9) by Rovio board member Oskar Burman. With over 130 million downloads, Angry Birds Go! it far surpasses Mario Kart, whose all games have sold 106 million copies so far.

To celebrate this “little” feat, Rovio has released an update that adds local multiplayer to Angry Birds Go!. That way, players will be able to interact locally, as long as they are on the same Wi-Fi network. Unfortunately, the game continues to require a constant internet connection.

The latter has been pretty buggy lately, and doesn't have the same polish as Angry Birds Go! that runs great on most smartphones and tablets.
